Mayer Wilfred (Wilf) Caplan

Wilfred Caplan is President and Chief Operating Officer of Canada Strategies Inc.

Wilf is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce & Finance and has a Masters in Economic from the University of California Berkeley.

He obtained a Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 1967 and was awarded a fellowship (FCGA) in 1979.  He served on the Board of Governors of the CGA Association of Ontario from 1973 to 1982 and was elected Ontario president for the 1980/81 operating year. Wilf then served on the Board of Directors of the CGA Association of Canada from 1979 to 1986, elected National president for the 1984/85 operating year.

He started his career at Philips Electronics Ltd. in Toronto beginning as an accountant and at the end of four years he was the Administration Manager, Medical & Scientific division.

Before engaging in private practice and founding Damaza Consultants Ltd., a financial consulting company, Wilf worked at Usarco Ltd. in Hamilton and Keystone Trailers Ltd. of Toronto as Chief Financial Officer between 1964-1976.

Wilf joined PEC Ltd. a property development company in 1979 where he was a partner and CFO for six years before founding Taurus Metal Trading Corp. in 1986. The company was an international broker for non-ferrous scrap metal broker until 1992.

In 1993, Wilf reactivated the financial consulting practice of Damaza Consultants until 2004 when he and his wife Elinor founded Canada Strategies Inc.

Wilfred Caplan has an extensive history of Volunteerism. He served as a Volunteer Advisor with the Canadian Services Organization from 2002 until the present.

He has served as Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of Toronto North Support Services, an organization whose clients are the homeless and the mentally impaired in northern Toronto from 2003 until the present.

He is the current Treasurer of a Toronto religions congregation, and prior to taking on the Tresurers role, served as Budget Chairman and a member of the Board of Governors  from 2004 to 2008.

HIs passion for politics mixed with his finance background as the CFO of a provincial riding association in the Toronto area from 2006 to 2009 and he served as CFO for a winningl candidate in the 2003 and 2007 Ontario provincial elections.

Wilf is married to Elinor Caplan. They have four children and seven grandchildren.
